Quiz by Joe M | Nov 6, 2022 BackAware Quiz Find out what is causing your back pain and whether you need an MRI, Physio or if Rest is the answer. Do you get pins and needles or numbness that goes below the knee or effects your muscular control (You slap one foot off the ground for example). Yes. This is common with people with back pain and there are two main reasons this occurs. The first is that there may be compression or irritation on the nerve or disc. This can cause pain, tingling or numbness to refer to certain areas. For example, irritation at the very low back just below the buttocks will cause pain, numbness or a general ache into the buttocks. Physiotherapy is a good solution here. In my clinic we focus first on releasing the muscles and adjusting the joints back into good position so that it takes the pressure off the area.
